Who We Are

Founder: Shola Gbemi, MS.Ed

Shola Gbemi is a critically-acclaimed author, entrepreneur, & social impact leader. He leans on his experience in social impact, community development, and the creative arts to design thought-provoking products & experiences. 

At the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, Shola manages a multimillion dollar investment in racial equity programs & advises gun-violence prevention organizations on logistics & operations. Shola also co-created neighborhood coalitions to identify disinvested public spaces, and to activate them with intergenerational healing activities.

At B Lab US & Canada, Shola co-created a strategy to engage 10 minority and women-identifying CEOs. He designed a Code of Conduct that prioritized collaboration & inclusion amongst participants. He also leveraged racial funding disparities data to encourage future investment in minority owned early-stage companies.

Shola’s essay’s on race and popular culture appear in Blavity, 21Ninety, and BTheChange. His debut novel, They Were Chosen, examines race and sexual violence in New York City during the Black Lives Matter movement.
